Every business has a story—and how this magazine came about is no different!
FabMags, a KZN proud magazine publishing business started in 2006—not long after that a young girl with a big spunk joined our sales team—she later got married and was pregnant with her first child when she left us.
10 years later—after many years of keeping in touch—Brita popped me an email over the Christmas period, if I remember correctly, and struck up a wild conversation/thought, and said “Hey, I have moved to the Midlands and would love to start a magazine here”—unbeknownst to her, Justin and I had been speaking about doing exactly that but wanted to find the right person “on the ground” to join us and launch it. Right there with that one email, our prayers were answered. The Midlands magazine was launched and by September 2019 the first magazine was out.
And here we are 30 editions later and still telling fantastic stories about the people and business! Our son Ceagan has joined the family business and took over the Midlands area from Brita when she went full-time into all things schooling at Carlyle College. We love what we do—it takes a village and a great team to produce the amount of magazines that we do, that covers Ballito, Umhlanga, South Coast, Hillcrest right up to, yes, you guessed it, the fabulous Midlands area. An area absolutely unique to KZN, with so much history, the only place that we can really say “gets cold” and with a wonderful mix of farming, business, and amazing people! We love being a part of it!
