The Karkloof Farmers’ Market has a Christmas surprise! Not one but six Saturday, Creative Christmas Markets! These Christmas Markets will be full of wholesome, delicious and unique homemade treats and local crafts for everyone to enjoy. From Saturday 23 November and every Saturday till 28 December!! It sure is going to be Holly Jolly.
Every Saturday, early morning, the Earth Route Market, jam-packed with local artisanal and fresh produce, with local crafts, is the best place to chat with all the local stall owners and start your Saturday morning on a wholesome note. This market is a must-attend for anyone in the Midlands.
The Festive Market at The Wine Cellar is full of crafts, food and drinks, entertainment, gifts and music. This market will surely get you in a festive mood and allow you to find some fantastic homemade gifts, from 10 till 12 December. Do not miss out on all the festivities!
Things To Do:
Midlands has a vast range of things to do, from something more relaxed to fueling your adrenaline. Find what you want to do or just do it all!
Are you ready for your adrenaline to spike and for your competitiveness to start? Checkpoint 103 has it all for you. From an obstacle course to the new outdoor epic-karting and target shooting! What kid and or adult wouldn’t want a day full of active activities? The facilities also have a small restaurant on-site so that you won’t lose your energy.
Zip through the canopies this festive season at Karkloof Canopy Tours. Another family fun activity to do and experience the beautiful Karkloof Forest Reserve with views of a waterfall and the valley. With a fully guided tour, you’ll have a ‘zip’ of fun ‘flying’ through the trees. It’s a great active activity to do.
You’ll wiggle with excitement when you decorate your own candle at Candle Dipping at Piggly Wiggly. With so many different designed candles, you can dip them in colourful wax and then paint detailing on as well; what an awesome activity and gift to give as it’s handmade with love. Get the whole family involved in being creative this festive season!
Looking for something a little more adult-friendly? Why not try getting more acquainted with your wine? At Highgate Wine Estate, you can enjoy a lovely wine tasting and lunch while learning about the beautiful estate and the process of the wine. Not to mention that this is a gorgeous place to propose *cough*, just kidding, but in all seriousness, bask in the scenery of the vineyards and enjoy the wine.
If wine isn’t your style, then don’t worry. Nottingham Road Brewing Co. is here to quench your thirst. From Premium Lager to Pale Ale, get yourself a beer tray and taste them all, not to forget the cool names and mascots for each one to enjoy. Feeling hungry while you are tasting beer, then indulge in a snack basket. You will NOT be disappointed.
The Midlands has gorgeous views of the mountains and rolling green hills, so why not enjoy a picnic taking in some views. Swissland Cheese, a goat cheese heaven, with their goats in the fields for you to feed and admire, and even better, the delicious cheese. All you do is grab one of the picnic baskets with a blanket to sit on, and shop inside for your cheeses, crackers, and toppings, then go out into the garden and enjoy a lovely picnic.
