Hemyock Farm
Is a quaint working farm situated in the Natal Midlands. Our name translates to “summer stream” or “river bend” which is made clear when approaching the farmhouse crossing over the beautiful 7km of the Mooi River. The charming simplistic workings of the farm and the unspoken beauty in our surroundings leave you feeling at peace and in awe.
Following a two-year restoration, the old farmhouse has been returned to its prime and now features luxury accommodation for up to 22 guests. The interiors of the farmhouse are what makes our house a home; every room has its own unique flare, pristine antiques, and artworks. We believe that it is in the finer details of the home that makes it remarkable.
Hemyock is founded on the concept of togetherness; allowing you and your family and friends to relax, connect and enjoy much-needed time together. To this end, we specialise in weekend wedding packages that allow you the time needed to savour your momentous day.
As of this year, we offer a micro-wedding package for those more intimate occasions to which we feel that Hemyock lends itself greatly. The price of the package is R36 000 per night for Friday and Saturday and R23 000 for the venue hire. Our micro – package is tailor-made for weddings up to a maximum of 50 people.
For your ceremony, we have a number of exquisite settings from the aisle of gumtrees, to the forests of plain trees, manicured gardens, and even the mountain tops. Whatever your heart desires, our team will make sure to make it happen. At Hemyock Farm, we pride ourselves on creating unique and bespoke experiences from beginning to end.

Established in 2000, Providence is situated outside Nottingham Road in the heart of the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, the perfect mid-point between the big smoke and the beach.
Providence is run by a very experienced team who will guarantee that your day is one that you will remember forever. With our exquisite venue and beautiful gardens, the venue is extremely versatile and can easily be adapted for different themes and decor. The Estate is a purpose-built wedding venue, which is reserved entirely for your family and friends. We have all the facilities and infrastructure to ensure the perfect wedding day. We provide a full service from mouth-watering cuisine to wedding planning to on-the-day coordination.
The original farmhouse has been transformed into sophisticated guest accommodation. The English-style country house is characterised by the traditional Natal redbrick, modest luxury which allows the beauty of the surrounding gardens and countryside to be fully appreciated.
We are proud to say we have been keeping ourselves extremely busy during the last year. We have further improved our offering as the perfect destination wedding venue; by expanding to now accommodate over 50 guests in our stylishly decorated en-suite rooms. We have also built the Meadows Clubhouse, which is perfect for pre-wedding celebrations.
With the country having been through an extremely difficult year or two people are excited to see and enjoy time with their loved ones. Weddings are the perfect celebration of love and happiness – people are longing for these connections that we have all missed. Micro weddings have become a ‘necessary’ means to continue the celebration during the different levels of lockdown. We are fortunate that Providence lends itself beautifully for weddings of 50 up to 180 guests without compromising the feel or vibe of your special day. Shalwyn Weddings and Events
Run by Leanne Ridgway on a family-run sugarcane farm in Tala Valley, KwaZulu-Natal. This country venue is perfect for micro weddings, starting from 50 people. The potato shed was converted into a rustic wedding venue with its high ceilings and wooden chandeliers that make it perfectly intimate. On a hot summer’s day, the stackable, concertina doors are opened wide to let the cool breeze drift in. Two oversize fireplaces in the center of the room keep the cold at bay on chilly winter evenings. 
The chapel overlooks the same views as the deck and can seat up to 180 people. For those who prefer a garden service, outside ceremonies can also be arranged, and more recently our enchanted forest has been rehabilitated. It is the most serene setting, accentuated by the stream that flows past.
Shalwyn is run by its owners who take great pride in the service they offer. Leanne together with the team from Hamblin’s Catering, understand that this day is special and that it only happens once. To them, attention to detail is paramount and this enterprising team will walk you through the wedding process to ensure your wedding day is memorable, stress-free, and displays your personal touch. Because it is situated out in the countryside, your wedding need not be cut short by a midnight curfew. It is completely up to you if you want to party the night away or get an early night before your much-awaited honeymoon.
Recently, Shalwyn Wedding Venue together with the team at Oh Happy Day came together to create an inspiration shoot that would show off the venue’s new micro wedding destination on the mountain top. They teamed up with KwaZulu-Natal vendors who all blew it out of the water with each of their contributions to the shoot, breathing life into the Mulberry Mountain Mood board that was provided. The team couldn’t resist an opulent setting especially since this micro wedding package includes being transported to the top of the mountain via helicopter!
