Angela Maud is the owner of Maud Motion, a boutique studio offering Pilates, Rebounding, and the Lyno Method with branches in Hilton and Pietermaritzburg. Having always been an avid sportswoman, she has represented South Africa in both indoor and field hockey at school and senior levels. She also coached school hockey during varsity, including the Midlands U16 B girls. Angela has completed numerous endurance events and has been involved in fundraising efforts, having raised over R50,000 for the Pink Drive between her charity efforts for the Comrades Marathon and the aQuellé Midmar 8 Mile Charity Challenge.

Helping others is at the heart of what makes Angela so passionate within the fitness industry. She is certified in Basi Pilates and Bounti Rebounding, and is a Lyno Practitioner with interests in injuries and cancer patients. Angela creates a space where everyone can progress at their own pace, build confidence, and have a sense of belonging. “At the studio, there are seven of us ladies who instruct. Even though we have all been certified through either Basi Pilates or Bounti Rebounding, we all offer something different. We are not in competition with each other; we are a team. We build each other up and are each other’s biggest supporters. I love seeing my clients progress and the friendships that they make. We are extremely lucky to have such amazing women (and men) at both studios. They always welcome someone new with open arms,” Angela shared.

One of her favourite things is to witness a client’s progress from previously struggling with an exercise to doing it. “Our bodies can do much more than what our minds believe we can. Many women are starting to realise that exercise isn’t just about aesthetics anymore. It is more about feeling good in your own body. Training is not a punishment, but a way to build your body strong for old age, so we can age gracefully and still have mobility. I love how women are taking charge of their bodies and lifestyles and doing it for themselves and how it makes them feel,” she said.

Maud Motion welcomes all fitness levels and ages and currently offers Lyno, Rebounding, Mat Pilates, Reformer Pilates, and TRE, with new modalities to be introduced soon. The classes are tailored to be small so everyone can receive individual attention and care. “You are not just a number to us, and we genuinely take an interest in our clients,” Angela explained.
