The spring and summer months in the Midlands have always involved wonderful flowers, but they are not just something to admire from a distance. Flower farms are finding fresh, creative ways for people to interact with their flowers, from relaxed afternoons among the blooms, glass in hand, to immersive ‘flower bar’ displays at events and hands-on floral workshops. Growers are welcoming visitors to slow down and experience the season.
Have a Flower Bar at Your Next Celebration
Flowers have always been part of life’s celebrations, but Farmgirl Flowers has found a beautiful way to make guests part of the creative process too.

Their charming Flower Bar is a unique addition to weddings and other special occasions, inviting guests to create their own floral arrangements using fresh, seasonal flowers picked straight from the farm. While the bridal party is away having photographs taken, guests can gather around the Flower Bar to chat, create, and help style the reception tables before taking their floral creations home as beautiful keepsakes from the day.
Because Farmgirl is a working flower farm, every Flower Bar reflects what’s naturally flourishing that week. Premium blooms are paired with lush greenery and textural fillers, creating arrangements that feel abundant, relaxed and unmistakably garden-inspired. While especially popular at weddings, the Flower Bar also lends itself beautifully to bridal showers, baby showers, birthdays, kitchen teas and corporate functions.

Catch Up Over Wine, Flowers & Nibbles
There are few things gardeners love more than wandering through a flower garden in the late afternoon with a glass of wine in hand, and that’s exactly what inspired Midlands Flower Fields’ much-loved Snip & Sip.

Guests are welcomed with a bucket and snips before meandering through the gardens to gather their favourite blooms. Afterwards, everyone settles in with wine, floral mocktails and light bites before arranging their flowers in a vase brought from home. A browse through the little farm shop, stocked with seeds, potted plants and garden-inspired treasures, rounds off the afternoon.
Growing more than 60 varieties of flowers year-round, the gardens are constantly changing. Alongside favourites such as roses, hydrangeas and dahlias are beautiful fillers including cornflowers, feverfew, silene and sedum; the little details that make every bouquet feel freshly gathered from the garden.
As the team puts it: “There are only so many coffee dates you can have before trying something a little different”, and food, flowers and friends are always a winning combination.

Pick, Picnic & Wander
At Hey Bud Flower Farm, the focus isn’t just on taking flowers home; it’s on slowing down long enough to enjoy where they grow.

The upcoming ‘Pick Your Own Bucket’ invites visitors to wander freely through the flowers, choosing whichever blooms catch their eye before creating a bouquet that’s completely unique to them. There’s no set route and no rush, just the freedom to explore at your own pace, surrounded by fresh country air and colourful flowers.
As spring rolls into summer, the fields fill with seasonal favourites including zinnias, celosia, gomphrena, strawflowers, sunflowers and, later in the season, spectacular dahlias. Once the bucket is full, visitors are encouraged to stay a little longer and enjoy a picnic at Bushwillow Park, making it easy to turn flower picking into a relaxed morning in the countryside.

Gather & Get Creative
This season BellaRosa will be preparing to welcome visitors with a delightful new way to celebrate one of summer’s favourite flowers.

Guests will be able to spend a leisurely morning wandering through the dahlia fields, selecting their favourite blooms before crafting a beautiful arrangement of their own. The outing will be rounded off with a relaxed lunch, bringing together flowers, creativity and good company in true Midlands style.

It’s another reminder that flower growers are constantly finding new ways to share what they do, offering visitors the chance to spend time outdoors, learn something new and leave with something they’ve created themselves.
